Butterflies Do Flutter By! Learn about the life cycle of one of natures most beautiful creatures. Build a butterfly cage, create a butterfly mosaic, learn what attracts butterflies to our own backyards, watch as a butterfly emerges from a chrysalis. 7/19-7/23, 8/16-8/20
Circle Of Life: Spend an enchanting week discovering the circle of life in our neighboring woods and water areas. Learn about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and spiders, and discover how these creatures are interdependent. Explore PMEC habitats and learn what plants and animals need to survive. 7/6-7/9, 8/2-8/6
Eco-Adventures: Join in our eco-adventure games while gaining an appreciation of your natural surroundings. Learn to minimize your impact on the environment and the 3’s of green living, reduce, reuse & recycle. Activities, games and hikes will fill your days. 7/6-7/9, 8/16-8/20
Fly Me To The Moon: Have you ever wondered how those rocket scientist do what they do? How did we end up on the moon? Build a rocket, a Mars Rover, a Moon Lander, a Solar system model or perhaps a Star Chart. Build and launch a rocket. 7/26-7/30
Inspired By Nature Created By You: Come experience art from art’s original source “nature”. Let’s get creative outdoors! We will use natural items, found objects and traditional artist materials to express our creative side. We will hike trails and wade in woodland streams drawing inspiration from nature. 6/22-6/25, 7/12-7/16, 7/26-7/30
Things With Wings: Use binoculars, nets and bug boxes to observe things with wings. Any creature that flies (from bats to birds to other flying animals) could be investigated. Games, stories, and crafts relating to our many winged friends will be a part of this fun week. 6/28-7/2, 8/9-8/13
Wet & Wild: Explore the different types of wetlands in the Joe English Conservation land and the wildlife that lives there. Make your own fishing poles and fish in our ponds. Crafts and water activities will give children who are magnetically attracted to wet and muddy places a week to remember. This program is not for children unwilling to get wet and muddy every day. 7/12-7/16, 8/9-8/13
Wise Kids Outdoors: Ever want to make a fort to hang out in? Want to plant something and watch it grow? Wonder what worms do for the dirt? Then “Wise Kids Outdoors” is for you. You’re guaranteed to get dirty, and have fun doing all these things and much more. You’ll go on scavenger hunts, make a critter keeper, look for bugs, and even learn about simple geocaching. 7/19-7/23
Woodland Fairy Adventures
MORNING SESSION Miss Sierra & her Fairy Friends will be making magical Fairy Gardens. Children will take home their own miniature *Garden in a Box* -- each one unique & special. Along with the creation of their wee Fairy Gardens, we will also make Flower Petal Fairies and there will be Nature Walks, Storytelling, Music & Dance. Festive Fairy attire is welcome. On Friday, everyone will attend a *Graduation Celebration Fairy Tea*! 8/2-8/6 9am-12pm
AFTERNOON SESSION Miss Sierra's August afternoon class works well as a complement to her morning class (Fairy Gardens) or all on it's own. Children will design & make wee Fairy Garden Furniture fashioned out of nature's gifts -- shells, acorns, milk weed pods, reflective mica, twigs, river rocks & more. To balance the creative handwork activities, there will be a Fairy Play, music, dance & storytelling. Festive Fairy attire is welcome. On Friday, a special *Graduation Celebration Fairy Tea* will be served! 8/2-8/6 1-4pm
Woodland Indians: Immerse yourself in the world of the Woodland Indians of long ago. Explore their culture through storytelling, crafts, games and adventures. Make a pair of moccasins! 6/28-7/2
Last Hurrah! Outdoor Adventure Club - August 23-27
The final full week of summer will be spent learning about the environment around the PMEC through hikes, pond exploration and walks in the stream. Each days lesson will focus on a different part of our environment. We will go fishing, play games, sing songs, create works of art and most of all have fun. Students Grades K - 8 (kids will be grouped by age)
