LEGO League
First Lego League & Junior First Lego League
The Recreation Department is again sponsoring the First Lego League (FLL) program for kids in grades 4-8 and the Junior First Lego League (Jr. FLL) program for kids in grades 2 & 3. Registration will begin 6/1/10 and continue through 8/15/10. After the close of registration teams we be built so that they are ready to begin the Lego Program when the Lego Challenge is released in early September. FLL is a program that encourages children to combine creativity, analytical thinking, problem solving and team building to address and resolve real world issues. Teams will program a robot, build LEGO structures, conduct research and ultimately craft a solution to the annual challenge. A modified version of the challenge is released by FLL for the Jr. FLL teams a well. Local, regional and national competitions are held so that the teams have an opportunity to showcase their hard work and creativity. General Information:
- The schedule shown for each Lego activity is an example of what each participants time commitment to the program will be weekly. The actual day and time of the weekly practice will be chosen by the team.
- Each team will select from its members, a coach or co-coaches, a team name, meeting location, research coordinator, T-Shirt designer, tournament coordinator and a meeting helper if one is needed. The team must name a coach to lead the team.
- The program start date of 9/6 and end date of 12/6 are estimates.
