Have you been thinking about pulling together a website for your business or non-profit organization, or even for a personal blog – but you just don't know how to get started?
The New Year is the right time to launch your site! This class will teach you how to quickly and easily create a polished, professional-looking website with WordPress, the world's leading website development tool.
WordPress is easy to learn - no programming is required - and powerful enough to create websites of any size or type, from simple blogs to large, sophisticated e-Commerce sites. And best of all, WordPress is free to use!
Through the five classes and a series of hands-on exercises you will learn how to:
Create your new site
Edit and publish pages and blog posts
Style the appearance of the site (e.g., page layouts and color schemes)
Insert photos, graphics, and other documents into the site
Add a variety of useful functions and features to the site
Migrate your site to a privately hosted WordPress environment, if desired.
In addition to the classes and assigned exercises, each student will be able to schedule an hour of one-on-one consulting time with the course instructor to obtain additional individualized help in developing their site.
The instructor for this class is Jonathan May, a local website developer with extensive experience training others in using WordPress. He holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science from Syracuse University and the University of California, Berkeley. More information about Mr. May can be found at his website: http://yourpresenceontheweb.com
The start date of this class has been changed to February 13, and will run until March 20.
