EngineersShop: Wearable Tech (Gr. 2-8)

Learn about the history of e-textiles then create soft simple electric circuits using conductive thread, LED lights, batteries and fabric to create masks, bookmarks or ornaments with LED lights using LilyPad LED technology. Participants will stitch together a fuzzy bookmark to read in the dark, fun mask or holiday ornament. No previous sewing or circuitry experience required.

More About Your Instructor!
Stephanie Erickson is a geologist and educator. She is a self professed geek and loves all things science and technology. She never stops thinking about science, technology, and engineering and how she can incorporate a topic into her lesson plans. After working 10 years in the engineering field, she transitioned into education and brings her real life experiences into the classroom. Her passions for science and technology dominate her life as she turns every home project into a science experiment or engineering design project. Stephanie is a lifelong Girl Scout, robotics coach, avid reader, gardener and dog lover.
